Ottawa is the home of Ottawa University. Ottawa University has over 20 major fields to choose from,

Industry, agribusiness and manufacturing were a significant factor in Ottawa and Franklin County's economic prosperity in the early days, as it still is today. The Warner Fence Company, an early manufacturer of fencing, the wire that "Tamed the West," called Ottawa home. The Warner Fence Company later manufactured gas and oil fired engines that can always be seen operating in displays at the Power of the Past Antique Engine and Tractor Show.
   
Bennett's Creamery played an integral part in processing and production of dairy products for area farmers.
  
Baldwin Ward Manufacturing was a leader in the production of boom trucks and later was bought by Skyhook Corporation.
 
Ottawa Steel Corp. was an innovator and early manufacturer of the "Dock Truck," used by many trucking and shipping terminals for movement of semi-trailers. The plant, which is owned by an international company, produces these trucks today and ships them around the world. Wal-Mart Distribution Center is a major employer in Franklin County, supplying goods to Wal-Mart stores and its affiliates across a large portion of the Midwestern United States. But, all in all, agriculture is by far the largest business in Franklin County.
